The port of Saint-Jean-de-Luz and Ciboure
The port and the Anchorage and light equipment zones of the bay of Saint-Jean-de-Luz and Ciboure and the Nivelle River
Tucked deeply away in the bay of Saint-Jean-de-Luz and Ciboure, a few cable lengths from Spain, the eponymous port is home to fishing and marina activities, passenger transport and water sports. Split over several sites in the bay (the bay of Socoa and the anchorage and light equipment zone of the bay) and in the Nivelle river (fishing and marina bays at the mouth of the Nivelle river and anchorage and light equipment zones on the river bed), it is also on land the Leclerc quay, presqu’île des Récollets (the Récollets peninsula), The VFDM zone the Voie Ferrée du Midi; the Pyreenees Atlantique railway , the Untxin zone and the Socoa platform.).
Straddling the two towns of Saint-Jean-de-Luz and Ciboure, the port is owned by the Pyrenees Atlantique Department. The anchorage and light equipment zones in the bay of the Nivelle River belong to the authority who handed the set up and management of it to the Syndicat intercommunal de la baie de Saint-Jean-de-Luz – Ciboure (The Town Federation of the bay of Saint-Jean-de-Luz and Ciboure) for a duration of 15 years.
These two local authorities decided to hand over the management of their areas to the Société publique locale d’exploitation du port départemental de Saint-Jean-de-Luz – Ciboure (the public company in charge of the development of the port of Saint-Jean-de-Luz and Ciboure (SPL) that was created for this purpose.

The port is managed by the SOCIÉTÉ PUBLIQUE LOCALE D’EXPLOITATION DU PORT DÉPARTEMENTAL DE ST-JEAN-DE-LUZ – CIBOURE
